Unlike Komatsu or Caterpillar, which design their own hydraulic pumps in-house, JCB sources its main pumps externally — Kawasaki for the JS-series excavators, and Bosch Rexroth for the 3CX/4CX backhoe loader range. This keeps JCB focused on the chassis, engine integration, and hydraulic circuit design, while relying on specialists for the pump itself.
