Container Handling — Two Generations, Two Different Pumps
The main lift and boom-extension circuit on a Kalmar reach stacker runs off a genuinely different pump depending on generation — the "Classic" DRF series (2005-2015) uses a Parker P2 series load-sensing piston pump, while the newer "Gloria" DRG series uses updated hydraulics that vary by region. Getting this wrong causes real problems, not just a poor fit.
DRF and DRG machines share the same chassis DNA, which makes it easy to assume the pumps are interchangeable — they genuinely aren't. Fitting a DRF pump on a DRG machine (or the reverse) triggers immediate ECU fault codes and hydraulic chatter, because the pump's load-sensing flow-compensator settings are calibrated specifically for each generation's control unit (K-CU on DRF, the newer K-Motion CAN-bus system on DRG).
