01 Do They Provide Written Test Documentation?
Ask specifically what a supplier's quality process involves — full disassembly, measurement against OEM tolerance, genuine parts replacement, and bench testing with a written report showing actual pressure and flow figures, not just a verbal assurance. A supplier who can't produce this documentation, or who only offers a vague "tested and working" claim, is a meaningfully higher risk than one who hands you actual numbers. 02 Can Dispatch Timeline Match Your Downtime Cost?
If your machine is earning revenue, the cost of downtime while waiting for a pump frequently exceeds the price of the part itself many times over. Ask a supplier for their actual current dispatch timeline for your specific model — not a generic "fast delivery" claim. A supplier holding genuine stock of your model will give you a specific number of days; one who needs to source it first usually can't.
03 Do They Genuinely Cover Your Brand and Model?
Some suppliers list dozens of brands on their website but only genuinely stock a handful. Ask for your exact model and part number before ordering, and be wary of a supplier who confirms availability without asking any clarifying questions about your machine — that's often a sign they haven't actually checked.
04 What Do the Warranty Terms Actually Say?
"Warranty included" means very little without specifics. Ask exactly what's covered (workmanship defects, typically — not damage from contaminated oil or incorrect installation), how long it runs, and what the claims process looks like if something goes wrong. A supplier who can answer this clearly and in writing is a better bet than one who just says "yes, warranty included."
05 Can They Support Safety-Critical Applications?
Crane outrigger circuits, hoist systems, and any hydraulics directly involved in load-bearing safety come with higher stakes than, say, a forklift's mast lift or a tractor's 3-point linkage. For these applications, be more demanding about the supplier's testing process and documentation, not less — ask specifically how they test the application-relevant function, not just static pressure.
